A/B Testing Support on the AMP Roadmap

AMP is one of the projects that Google has been pushing fairly hard recently.  But there are some limitations to AMP.  Despite its extremely load speed capabilities, there are still some thing that webmasters can’t do well while utilizing AMP.  And one of those things is A/B testing.

At SMX West on Tuesday, Dave Besbris, Vice President of Engineering, Google talked about some of the upcoming features they were working on with AMP, when he was asked about A/B testing, he revealed they are working on.

“A/B testing is something we are excited to support in AMP,” Besbris said.

He didn’t reveal a possible timeline for when webmasters could see this, but he did say “it is on the roadmap to do.”

How Google could or would implement this is interesting.  Would it be a tag?  Or simply swapping code to allow more than one page to load?  And would it work simply for search or would it work for other AMP features?
