Google Adds Reporting Flag to Local “Check the Facts” Feature

Google has added an option to flag parts of the Google My Business listing as part of the “Check the Facts” feature which allows searchers to update certain parts of the information about a Google local listings.  Now, in addition to the “is this correct?” prompt, there is a new flag icon which enables a new feature to flag the feature.

Tom Waddington noticed the updated flag option.

Here is what it looks like initially:

And when you flag it, it gives you to options for reporting it:

The two options for reporting are the listing include:

  • This edit contains hateful, violent or inappropriate content
  • This edit contains advertising or misinformation

This new flag feature shows up for both desktop and mobile users.

It is not clear how quickly a flagged report will take someone to look at it and confirm the flagged issue.
