Google Adds New “Best” Product Carousel to the Search Results

Google has added a new feature to the search results to highlight the “best” products when someone does a search for that particular product.

The carousel is similar to the type of carousel we see on mobile search results.  Each individual product is in its own card, with a star review score and number of reviews.

Here is what it looks like:

These aren’t labeled as sponsored, so they aren’t actually shopping results.  Instead, these seem to be selected from being referenced in other articles as the “best” for the product.  They also cite the sources for each product, with either one or two sources with the article listed for each.

The sources Google cites are rather interesting.  It varies from Wired to various dedicated research sites… and even Digg.

The chosen products are interesting as well.  The first two results in the carousel have 1437 and 1577 reviews.  But the third product has a mere 5 reviews.

This appears to only be active in the US currently.
