Google AdWords Launching Mobile-Friendly Hotel & Auto Ads

Google has announced they are launching new mobile-friendly ads that will appear for multiple verticals.  These new ads will feature swipe functionality as opposed to the usual mouse or finger clicks on the ads.  They also feature a great deal of visual content with multiple images being utilized.

The new swipe-able mobile ads are pretty slick, and I can definitely see some advertisers in other market areas wanting to get this style of ads in their own verticals.  Click play to see it in action:

These ads are very engaging visually when you see it in action, and as Google points out, that is exactly what many searchers looking for cars want to see.

When people browse the web for automobiles, they want to see pictures and visuals of their dream car. In fact, about half of Google searches for cars contain images.4 That’s why we introduced Automobile Ads – a new search ad format that takes you directly from Google.com to a beautiful carousel of car images that shows you how a car looks inside and out — like how the sleek metallic finish looks with the black leather and wood trim. Tapping on an image brings up more information about the car, like horsepower and estimated MPG while tapping on the “Dealers” link takes you to a page with nearby dealer listings.

Google is also introducing new mobile hotel ads, although some have seen this in action already during tests Google had been running.

Hotel Ads show current prices from a variety of sources and when a traveler is ready, they can select “Book” to complete their reservation on the partners’ sites.

Here is how their new hotel ads will appear on mobile.  They are going live globally for all hotel partners.

Google announced these new ads at the annual AdWords Performance Summit.
