Google Launches New Google Partner Badges & Adds Premier Partner

Google is introducing brand new Partner badges for advertisers and are launching a new Primer Partner status as well.

But what is most notable for many is that Google has finally added information to the Google Partners badge which shows that the badge is for advertising.  While it doesn’t show it on the regular view, when someone now mouses over it, it will pop up information about advertising.

Advertisers can be certified in the following AdWords areas: Search ads; mobile ads; video ads; display ads; and shopping ads.

For the new badge not only does it require a certified individual, but also “a history of consistent product performance.”

They have also added a new “Premier Partner” badge as well.

It isn’t clear what the full requirements are, however advertisers are required to have additional certifications.  And it seems ad spend is one of the huge factors too.  But it also has the added perk that those advertisers “will receive increased support from Google.”

The Google Partner badge has been a sore spot for many SEOs, as some of the more unethical SEOs were using the badge to show them as being certified by Google for organic SEO.  While this change isn’t perfect – it would have been nice if it showed it on the badge without it requiring a mouseover – it is definitely a step in the right direction.
