Google Podium Posts Expands to Regular Search Results

Google Posts – a feature Google had initially launched for political candidates in the US – has no expanded to other areas of the search results.  Dr. Pete Meyers spotted Google testing it for a non-political search in the search results, this time for a charter school in New York.

Here is how it appears in the search results:

This particular result only has two shares listed, then you can click to see more results.

It is interesting that there are only two listed, since the landing page has more.  The third most recent listing is from June 20th, so it seems that freshness also plays a role in how many results show in the number of results that show in the embed.

Here is how the landing page looks:

Google Podium (aka Google Posts) began testing earlier this year with political candidates, however not many politicians took advantage of the system.  Mike Blumenthal spotted it being tested for a local business, although that particular result no longer appears to be actively showing the Google Posts results.

Could this be an expansion in the search results?  Possibly.  It seems interesting that it is popping up in the search results after not seeing any real expansion since the product’s launch period.

Google Posts is still open by invite only at this time and those interested can sign up for the waitlist.
