Google Search Console Adds 16 Months of Data

Webmasters have been asking for more data in Google Search Console beyond the 90 days it has offered.  And webmasters are finally getting it – and more than the 12 months many assumed would be added.  Google has confirmed in a blog post that the new Google Search Console will have 16 months of data.

Many webmasters wanted the longer period of data so they could analyze traffic metrics better for things like seasonality and track changes within Search Analytics over a year or longer.  And the new addition definitely goes well beyond what many hoped for, with 16 months of Search Analytics available.

If you’ve been a fan of Search Analytics, you’ll love the new Search Performance report. Over the years, users have been consistent in asking us for more data in Search Analytics. With the new report, you’ll have 16 months of data, to make analyzing longer-term trends easier and enable year-over-year comparisons. In the near future, this data will also be available via the Search Console API.

The screenshot also shows Search Analytics going back to Jan 2017, although it is not clear if the full 16 months will be available retroactively, or if the current data only goes back one year.

The one downside is that while the 16 months of data is available, it is currently only available to those who currently have access to the Search Console beta.  And while Google continues to roll out the beta, many webmasters still do not have access to it, or only have it for some websites within their account but not others.  Google does state they are continuing to roll out the beta to more users, and will allow users to retain access of the old version of Search Console in the meantime.

But this is a big win for webmasters, as some of this keyword and CTR specific data was only available via Google Search Console and the 90 day duration was definitely hard to work with.
