Google Search Console Links Report Empty for Some Sites

If you are wanting to analyze links that Google knows about linking to your site, you might have a difficult time.  Google has dropped both external and internal links from displaying within Google Search Console.

Instead, affected users are seeing empty results.

This problem has been ongoing since Friday.

Both Gary Illyes and John Mueller have stated it is a known issue and that the team is currently working on a fix.

Apparently not all users are reporting the issue, so it isn’t clear why this is only affecting some accounts or sites.

For those doing back link audits or needing to see internal and external links, there are multiple paid tools (some have free trials) that can give you similar information.  But for many, those tools are more supplementary and Google’s own link report is considered the most important for analysis reasons.

Google is working on a fix, so hopefully it will be back up soon.
