Getting More Results of Google’s In Depth Articles for Any Keyword

Wondering if your articles have the potential to appear as an “In-Depth Article” in the Google search results if only they showed more?  While Google tends to only show one or two in-depth articles, they are ranking many more than that – up to ten for each search query.

If you find yourself ranking just outside of the top 1 or 2 that they normally display for your chosen search query, you can work on optimizing if you feel that the in-depth article result would bring you more traffic than a regular natural search result.  It appears that if it displays as an In Depth Article, it will not appear in the regular search results on the same page.

To find the top ten “In-Depth Article” results, simply add &tbs=ida:1&gl=us to the Google search query URL.

Using that URL, it will still also show AdWords ads, any related news links as well as local results, if any of them are relevant to your search query.

H/T to the Google Operating System blog & Alex Chitu who noticed adding the string could produce additional results.
