Next Mobile Friendly Algo Update the Platypus Update?

Those at SMX Sydney were perhaps given a sneak peak of what the mobile friendly algo will be called when it gets its new signals. According to Google’s Gary Illyes, who may or may not have been joking, it sounds as though it will be called the Platypus update.

Now, in case you didn’t notice, Google has a fondness for not just black and white animals, but also the letter P.  Hence Platypus.

So when the mobile friendly update gets its first update – which will very likely be targeting both page speed and interstitials, it could just be named the Platypus update… which is a great name, even if it’s not exactly black and white 🙂

It also means you will need to learn how to spell Platypus because “Beak Animal” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
