Bing Including Foursquare Photos & Tips in Local Knowledge Graph

Bing has started to include information from Foursquare – including photos and “tips” in their local knowledge graph.

I spotted this interesting test in Bing where they are showing data from Foursquare in the local version of their knowledge graph.

Here is another screenshot taken the day before that shows they rotate the imagery shown at the top with others taken from Foursquare.

They don’t appear to show for many searches, but they include images from Foursquare, as well as “Tips” which are essentially just Foursquare’s version of reviews.

When you click on the Foursquare image, it takes you to this page below, which has longer versions of the Foursquare tips.  It also has other usual local related information such as website, directions and hours of operation.  It also contains links to both Twitter and Facebook.

Last year Microsoft invested $15 million in Foursquare as a “strategic partnership” that gave Microsoft access to Foursquare data.  However, we haven’t really seen much of it added to the Bing search results.

But perhaps even more significantly, if this rolls out, is that marketers might have to put a bit of added effort in ensuring their Foursquare reviews (aka Tips) look good when they show up in Bing.
