Google’s Search Analytics Adds Keyword Comparisons Report

Google Search Console has launched a new feature in Search Analytics, the ability to compare two search queries, and analyze various stats comparing the two queries.

Jonathan Jones was the first to spot the added feature.

You can choose two search queries to compare.  These can be short or long tail queries, but it doesn’t seem to support wildcards to broad match type keywords.  You need to include the exact keywords or keyword phrases you want to compare.

When you compare two queries, you can then see the comparisons between them by selecting pages, countries, devices, search type, search appearance and by dates.  This provides some interesting data as well as additional insights surrounding keywords where site owners might see a variance in things like conversion rates or bounce rates.

To access the new report, head to Search Analytics, then you will find a new drop down once you select “Queries”.  You can then select the “compare queries” option.

This is a nice addition to Search Console, as it allows site owners to dive a bit deeper into their stats without having to use a third party tool to do so.
