YouTube’s Gaming Division Hires eSports Commentator Ryan Wyatt

YouTube is continuing their push of their YouTube gaming division by hiring eSports commentator Ryan Wyatt.  Wyatt, who is also known as his gaming handle Fwiz, made the announcement on Twitter from an Major League Gaming (MLG) event in Ohio this weekend.

Google an YouTube have been trying to attract more gamers since their failed acquisition of Twitch.tv earlier this year.  Twitch eventually was acquired by Amazon following rumors that a Google acquisition of Twitch could trigger an anti-trust investigation resulting in Google dropping out of the competition.

YouTube recently announced a program that would allow fan funding on YouTube channel pages, a move that was largely believed to attract more gamers, as many gamers accept subscriptions and other donations through Twitch.tv channels.

With the hiring of Wyatt, who has been involved in the gaming industry with two stints at MLG’s eSports beginning in 2008, will definitely raise the visibility and level of YouTube’s gaming division.
