Google AMP Launching in Search Results February 24

We have known that Google plans to launch AMP sometime at the end of February.  But AdAge is now reporting that AMP is scheduled to go live in the mobile search results on February 24th.

All signs are pointing to their planned eminent launch of AMP.  Google added AMP error reporting to Search Console and recently added help and support for AMP on Google’s webmaster help forums.  Over twenty ad networks are on board and the addition of paywall and subscription options were also recently announced.

AMP has been an important thing for Google.  Gary Illyes said  in November during his State of Search keynote that they would be pushing AMP aggressively in 2016.

It is also important to note that when Google decides to show AMP results, those who decide not to go AMP could lose out on potential traffic.   But SEO will still matter – Google won’t decide to show an AMP result simply because it is AMP.
