Google Domains Available to All US Users With Additional Support & Features

googledomainsIf you have been itching to try out Google Domains but haven’t been lucky enough to receive an invite, your wait is over.  Google Domains is now open to everyone without an invite… so long as you live in the US.

Google Domains opened up last summer as an invite only program.  Many of the features were tailored to newer users though, as it offers partnerships with website builders such as Shopify, Squarespace, Weebly and Wix .

They have now added support for Blogger, enabling Blogger users the ability to register a domain name and connect it to their blog easily.

Additional support options have been added, including phone support, and users can now preview design templates offered through Google Domains’s website building partners.

Google Domains now has over 60 TLDs available to register, including vanity ones such as .guru and .ninja.  The full list of available domains is here.

It is still considered to be a beta program at this time, so it is likely they will be adding additional features prior to going out of beta.

It is unclear how popular Google Domains has been so far, but Tech Crunch speculates it could be hitting competitors hard.

Google’s entry into the domain names market put a crimp on GoDaddy’s IPO plans, and impacted that of other web rivals. For instance, Web.com hit a one-year low in November after missing revenue expectations. Meanwhile, GoDaddy began stressing how it was working to diversify its product offerings to include more than just support for domain buying, but expanding into all aspects of helping customers run their online business.

There is still no word about when Google Domains will be available to non-US users.  However, you can sign up and Google will alert you when it becomes available in your country.
