Bing recently started testing placing the contents of entire Wikipedia pages in the Bing search results, in a tabbed format. Now they have added WikiHow as a source of these tabbed boxes in the search results.
Here is how the WikiHow ones appear, again they are very similar to the Wikipedia one with a pretty big difference – and it is very promotional for WikiHow as well.
Here is the second tab in the answer box.
But that third tab? When you click “Related” it shows multiple links to other content from WikiHow, a pretty big score for that website.
When you click any of the related links, it takes you directly to that page on WikiHow.
Not only that, this particular result also includes site links for WikiHow as well.
It is also good news for WikiHow to try and get back some of the traffic they recently lost. They were one of the “losers” in Google’s latest Quality Update (aka Phantom 2) and saw a huge drop in their traffic, so perhaps this will boost it up. But it is also notable because while Google’s search algorithms don’t favor WikiHow’s site quality, Bing seems to be embracing it and showcasing it in their own search results.
While not everyone can see these tabbed results in Bing, it does seem Bing is expanding their “contents of an entire wiki page in the search results”, I expect we will see this change go live to more people.
