google webmasters recon

Google has announced they are doing a series of tips to help webmasters who have violated the Google Webmaster Guidelines and are navigating the world of reconsideration requests to get their sites back into Google.

This week, we’re focusing on the reconsideration request process in a series called #GoogleRecon. Websites go through this process after receiving a manual action for violating our Webmaster Guidelines. Learn about manual actions and how they affect your site in search results: http://goo.gl/w9WdpQ.

If you see that your site has a manual action, read the messages carefully before addressing the issues. Throughout this week, we will be sharing tips that can help you towards a successful reconsideration request.

If you don’t follow the Google Webmasters Google+ page, you should definitely follow the account to keep your eye out for tips that will likely start to day.

Google has never been fully transparent about reconsideration requests, although they are certainly more open about it now than they have in the past.  But SEOs should definitely be watching to see if any new tidbits of info get released, or if it is all previously known information.

It is also nice to see that Google is getting some more helpful content out for webmasters, especially with the absence of the webmaster Q&A videos Matt Cutts was doing before he went on his leave.
